ENUGU—A mass de-worming programme, which will involve administering over 10,000 children with Zolat anti-worm drug free of charge, was yesterday launched by Enugu State Government, as part of efforts to tackle worm-related ailments among children.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), worm is responsible for frequent diarrhoea, fatique and weakness, general malnutrition and anaemia and accounts for million of deaths among the children annually.

Wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Clara Chime, said the danger posed by worm-related ailments in children had become a source of concern to the government and parents, stressing that children of all ages were affected by the menace.
