Aliero dares N-Assembly over speed breakers

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero may have dared the National Assembly on the call for the removal of the speed breakers in the major junctions of the Federal Capital City (FCC), just as he said the breakers were serving the purpose they were meant for.

It would be recalled that members of the National Assembly had called for the removal of the breakers against the backdrop that they were causing more harm than good.

According to Aliero, reports from the Nigerian Police and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) have shown that the speed breakers have caused a drastic reduction in the rate of accidents in Abuja between the time of construction of the breakers and the time of review.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the Minister noted that accidents caused by over speeding and reckless driving in the city had been reduced by the speed breakers, adding, “anybody that is in doubt of this accident reduction may wish to see the Police and FRSC, they will give you the statistics of accidents of when these speed breakers were erected and when they were not there and you compare and contrast.
