PPA primaries: Ekwunife’s victory a joke – Etiaba

Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Mr Emeka Etiaba, has described the recent party’s primaries won by a member of House of Representatives, Mrs Uche Ekwunife, as a joke.

Etiaba in a statement, yesterday said, “On October 8, 2009, the PPA organised its primaries with a view to electing its flag bearer for the 2010 Anambra governorship election.

While I remain grateful to the party for allowing me participate in the said primaries, I state that I have restrained and will keep restraining my myself from commenting on the planning and the execution of the primaries, in order not to ridicule the party.”

Further he said, “for the avoidance of doubt, I restate my earlier position that the victory awarded to the now governorship candidate of the party is not only unmerited but a joke.”

According to him, “much as I will not challenge the verdict, I state unequivocally that the choice is most unacceptable to us at the Next Level Campaign Organisation and this being the case, we completely disassociate ourselves from such contraption.

“The journey to the Next Level in Anambra state is a serious journey and we of the Next Level Campaign Organisation insist that it is about Anambra state and not any individual or political party.

In few days to come, our position on the governorship election will be made available and our decision on our next line of action, also disclosed.

He had earlier said, “I seize this opportunity to thank first of all, those who not minding enormous financial inducement, gave me a platform to ventilate my thoughts on
Anambra state.

My gratitude also goes to Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, members of the Next Level Campaign Organisation, members of the Progressive Peoples Alliance and Ndi Anambra state in general, for their continued support”.
