PDP: Soludo’s emergence undemocratic – AC

By Innocent Anaba

The Action Congress (AC) has insisted that the emergence of Prof. Charles Soludo as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra is undemocratic, saying its position has been vindicated by the rejection of his (Soludo)  candidacy by other aspirants from the state.

AC in a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said while the PDP spokesman, Prof. Rufai Alkali, was hiding behind one finger by saying that Soludo was properly chosen, PDP party members from Anambra were dismissing his contention by storming the party headquarters in Abuja to protest against Soludo’s nomination.

“We will therefore like to ask Prof. Alkali to reconcile his position with that of the protesters, who said due process was not followed in the nomination of the PDP flag bearer. Or is Prof. Alkali saying the protesters are members of the AC?” the party asked.

“There is no better repudiation of Prof. Alkali’s claims than the action of the protesting PDP members from Anambra. We are vindicated,” AC said

It said unlike the PDP spokesman, who chose to descend to a lower pedestal by engaging in crude personality attacks, the AC is more interested in dwelling on issues that can deepen democracy in the country, hence its decision to speak out on the shoddy, undemocratic and dictatorial manner in which Soludo was chosen by the PDP.
