MTN Nigeria has hit the airwaves with MTN Textimania, an educational TV game show. The show, which is on air at various stations across Nigeria, is aimed at enhancing the capacity of Nigerian secondary school students in the usage of basic technological devices as well as improving their knowledge of English Language.
The show is broadcast on Africa Independent Television (AIT) Network; Silverbird Television, Lagos; Independent Television, Benin; Galaxy Network and Anambra Broadcasting Services, Awka.
According to the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN, Mr Kola Oyeyemi, MTN Nigeria is committed to affecting the lives of Nigerian youths positively through educational development.
â€œTextimania is one of the ways through which MTN is partnering with government in developing the Nigerian educational system. We feel it is better to catch them young and put them on the right path to success.”
“We are very excited to be part of a cause that will stimulate young minds and develop their intellectual capacity,â€ he said.
Textimania contestants are drawn from 32 secondary schools across the country. It is a show that challenges children to showcase their proficiency in the use of short code messaging (SMS or texting) and the use of the English Language.
The school that produces the overall winning pupil would win a fully equipped ICT centre and a school bus, while the pupil would enjoy an all_expenses paid excursion trip to the United Kingdom.
The first runner_up will win a library and a bus for his/her school, while the winning pupil will also get an all_expenses paid excursion trip to the UK. The second runner_up will also win exciting personal and school prizes.
