Lagos to make 2010 independence a carnival

From 2010,independence in Lagos State will assume the position of a carnival like celebration, as the state partners west Oak investment Limited to boost it’s tourism potentials.

Activities of the 2009 Independence Anniversary which celebrated Nigeria at 49, took a new dimension in Lagos with the official launch of a commemorative countdown to the 50th anniversary in 2010, tagged “INDDYCARN 2010” with theme, Unity, Peace and Hope saw Mrs. Sarah Adebisi Sosan, Deputy governor of Lagos State represent the Executive Governor, Barr. Bababtunde Raji Fashola, urge Nigerians to look beyond current challenges of nationhood and focus on the bigger picture of galvanizing the enormous resources available to spur development in the country.

She enjoined Nigerians to ‘dwell more on the positive aspects of our national life, rather than the continuous rumination over the past and what may have gone wrong with the system’.

Whilst urging Nigerians to reflect on the state of the nation, Sosan called on Nigerians to explore abundant positive potentials in the country in pursuit of the national aspiration to build a prosperous nation that would the pride of all Nigerians

The Deputy Governor who described the launch as an auspicious occasion to celebrate Nigeria, also advised that all Nigerians, irrespective of their background, should embrace a nationalist spirit, which according to her was the motivation for those who fought for the country’s independence, adding that every patriotic Nigerian should rally round the INDDYCARN 2010 initiative and be a part of the commitment to showcase the dynamism, zeal and resilience of the Nigerian brand.
