CALABAR—Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has assured Cross Riverians of government’s position to serve them diligently, purposefully and with the fear of God.
Imoke stated this in a good will message to mark Nigeria’s 49th Independence anniversary, stressing that “in pursuing our target of creating wealth and prosperity for Cross Riverians, we will continue to make the right choices for the state. On the strength of our Seven-Point-Agenda of development that we are faithfully implementing, we will take Cross River State to the golden era we aspire to get to.â€
The Governor disclosed that the State has an obligation to bequeath a worthy legacy to the next generation, explaining that it has raised the bar of governance by instituting fiscal discipline and due process, and extended the frontiers of development.
He said the state stands in awe of the foresight and dogged determination of the nation’s founding fathers, whose commitment to the cause of independence ensured its attainment on October 1, 1960, emphasizing that the dream of a just, egalitarian and self-reliant nation is gradually being realized by those entrusted with leadership in this generation.
“Your support accounts for the remarkable achievements we have made as a state, and as a nation. As we look to the future, we leverage our forward plans on that continued support. Join hands with us to make Cross River State and indeed Nigeria great, so that when the history of this period is written, we shall all be proud of what we attainedâ€, he said.
