Prominent Nigerians including Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State will tomorrow lay the foundation of the proposed Augustine University owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.
The university expected to be sited in Epe, Lagos State, according to the Chairman, Project Funding Committee, Sir Molade Okoya-Thomas, will be a conventional university with several colleges which would evolved in three phases — the foundation, growth and development and consolidation.
According to Okoya-Thomas, about N 15 billion will be required in the first two phases to provide facility and infrastructure for the take-off of academic work in the Colleges of Education, Humanities; Social and Management Sciences; College of Sciences, College of Engineering and College of Environmental Sciences, adding that the Colleges of Medical Sciences and Law will follow suit in the third phase.
Others expected at the turning of the sod and the endowment launch are Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who will be the chairman of the occasion; Sir Michael Otedola, former Governor of Lagos State, and Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, I among others.
