Court blasts Okorie for misleading it

By Ise-Oluwa Ige

ABUJA—An Abuja High Court sitting in Gudu has tongue-lashed Chief Chekwas Okorie’s faction over its stealthy move to secure its order to validate the September 2, national convention which held in defiance of a valid court order stopping it.

The trial judge, Justice Abubakar Talbar, who dismissed the suit, held that it was mischievously brought to set him on a collision course with his brother justices who had earlier pronounced on the case.

The judge did not spare the lawyers who appeared in the case.

He said it was unfortunate that they could bring such suit which by the history of the case is clearly an abuse of court process for a simple reason of monetary gains.

Specifically, Messrs Benji Duru, Bello Umar and Chuka Onwuamah, all members of the Okorie executive had sued Okorie asking the court to mandate him to give effect to the decisions of the national convention they held on September 2, in Abuja in the name of APGA.
