Benue sacks 2 commissioners, redeploys 7

MAKURDI — After   few weeks of speculation, two commissioners in the Benue State cabinet have been relieved of their position with seven others redeployed to other ministries in a major cabinet reshuffle announced by the Benue State government, yesterday.

The Commissioners who lost their positions in the state executive council in the first cabinet shake-up since the advent of the present administration were Mrs. Mnena Shija of the Works, Housing and Transport Ministry and her counterpart at the Lands and Survey Ministry, Arch. Sam Dura.

According to a signed statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Dr. Cletus Akwaya and made available to Vanguard, the exercise which was approved by Governor Gabriel Suswam was carried out in furtherance of the overall performance of the administration.

The redeployed commissioners, according to the statement, were Mr. Bem Melladu who was redeployed to the Ministry of Information and Culture from the Commerce, Industries and Tourism Ministry.

Others redeployed are: Mr. Benjamin Vembe, Mrs. Ntol Unongo, Dr. Eugene Aliegba, Mrs. Diana Ochoga, Mr. Benjamin Ashaver and Mr. Shaapera Naako.
