Anambra PDP primary: Aspirant sues for peace

AWKA—A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Mrs. Chinyere Ogugua, yesterday, advised her colleagues in the race to shun violence during today’s primary election for the emergence of the party’s candidate for the February 6, gubernatorial poll.

Addressing  her supporters at Abba in Njikoka Local Government area of Anambra State ahead of today’s primary election,  Mrs. Ogugua said the election should be taken with the spirit of love, advising the numerous contestants not to view the exercise as a do or die affair.

Mrs. Ogugua, who was Technical Chairman of Mtel Board and National Woman leader of PDP, further urged her co-aspirants and all the party supporters in Anambra State to paint the party with gold by helping to promote the re-branding Nigeria project by being their brother’s keeper and engaging in acts that would uplift PDP and the country.

“I am a mother, I know the problems of my people very well, and now is the time to change Anambra State.  If I am elected your Governor come 2010, when I am there, you are there too,” she told the supporters.

Leaders of the community and PDP supporters in the town, in various speeches, praised Mrs. Ogugua for declaring interest to govern Anambra State, saying with her solid background and her simplicity, she would move the state forward if given the mandate.

Promising that they would stand behind her, the PDP supporters, however, urged her to pursue her ambition peacefully saying she would emerge the party’s flagbearer if God has destined it.
