Half way into Season Two of the MTN sponsored popular reality talent hunt show- Project Fame, organisers have explained why last year’s anchors- Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi (FAR) and Dare Art Alade (Darey) were dropped.
According to the project manager, Tobechukwu Ejiofor, the hosts had to be changed for different reasons. “We got poor feedback on Funlola’s performance. It seems she was not hip enough. The show’s meant to reach youths. As for Darey, we were going to retain him but he said his schedule would be busy for the projected period the show would be running.
He’s touring the US right now and we envisaged that he might not be able to combine the project recording with his music schedule. We didn’t want a case whereby he’d be around for certain editions and not be around for others. We can’t afford to gambleâ€, he said.
At present, the show is being anchored by good looking and well composed Joseph Benjamin together with pretty Adaora Oleh. Both are new entrants into the reality show hosting business in Nigeria.
On the present anchors, Ejiofor said they had options to pick from, including from the likes of famous radio presenter and compere, spontaneous IK Osakioduwa (Wild Child) among others who showed up at the host auditioning for this year’s edition. But they – Ultima Limited, project coordinators of MTN Project Fame and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM) decided to play along with Joseph Benjamin.
Ejifor said, “A lot of people came for the auditioning. But my boss just spotted something in the dude (Joseph Benjamin). He seems to have eyes for good talents and so far, he’s not gone wrong. That’s the same way he picked out Frank Edoho as host of the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ (WWTBAM) game show and of which nobody can fault Frank’s performance till date. So far, we’re getting good response on Joseph’s character and we’re in the seventh week already.
On the pretty slim Adaora Oleh, he said, ‘Adaora has a very fat profile of hosting TV shows on BEN Tv with interviews with big acts like Neyo, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and the likes in her profile. She’s very professional, young and hip and that’s what we want projected on stage.†Of the seven contestants left in the house, on probation this week are David Omodunmiju (3), Krimi Johnson (7), Madonna Robinson (8) and Sametta Morris (11), leaving married 34-year-old Tomiwa Songonuga, 26-year-old Mike Anyasodo and 18-year-old Nicholas Buigar.
