Police Kill 4 suspected kidnappers

By Anayo Okoli

Umuahia – FOUR suspected kidnappers,  were on Sunday killed by a combined team of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) Port-Harcourt, River state and officers of the Abia state Police Command. The suspected kidnappers had earlier killed one of their victims.

The gang of four dare devil kidnappers, were said to have terrorizsed residents of Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia state and the commercial city of Aba.
But another account of the incident, said that the kidnapped victim died in a crossfire that ensued between the gang and security operatives at  Obehie town near Aba.

According to sources, the incident took place on Sunday morning, when the owner of a SUV, who was traveling to Enugu from Port-Harcourt, on the Port Harcourt-Aba-Enugu expressway, was kidnapped by the hoodlums, who forced him into a bus with which they were operating.

Shortly  after abducting the man, the hoodlums sighted another approaching  SUV, which they attacked,  kidnapped the owner and abandoned the two SUVs.

But luck ran against the gang,  when their vehicle, a bus developed a mechanical problem, and they immediately snatched a Mercedes 190, transferred their victims into the vehicle, and pushed the bus out of the expressway to a feeder to effect repairs on it.

However, a vigilant resident, who suspected the activities of the hoodlums called the Obehie Police station, who in turn, apparently aware of the fire power of such kidnappers, alerted the Anti-Terrorists Squad, Port-Harcourt, stationed on the expressway.
