Mr Olatunji Kayode Samuel of Trans4mer Beauty Concept, Abuja, has emerged Best Hair Stylist of the year 2009. Mr Samuel beat eight other participants drawn from all zones of the country to emerge winner, carting away the star prize a fully equipped Amigos branded Salon, a ticket to Accra, Ghana and generator set.
The fifth edition of the annual National Hair Stylists Competition which took place last weekend at the renaissance hotel, Ikeja, drew stylists from all over the country as well as stakeholders in the hair and beauty industry.
The salons that participated include, Natomis Salon, M&S Salon, Trans4mer Hair and Beauty Concept and Elegant Twins Salon. Others are Platinee Salon, Zuma Salon, Steve Salon, Bashiru Signature Salon and Daisy Salon. The contestants, were saddled with the task of creating two hair styles-ethnic and bridal hair using Amigos new signature braids and Mirelle. The result was a variety of beautifully crafted hair showing the individual creativity of the stylists.
At the end of an evening of fun and work, Mr Olatunji Samuel emerged winner followed closely by Platinee Salon who went away with a branded salon, a generator set, and anÂ industrial fan while third place went to Natomis Salon winning also aÂ branded salon courtesy of Amigos the official hair brandÂ and a DVD player.
And for their contribution to the hair and beauty industry, style writers were acknowledged with awards. Kehinde Falode of the NationÂ was the most outstanding style writer whileÂ Adaeze Amos of National life newspaper was theÂ most creative style writer.Â In addition, all style writers who have supported the event since inception, were honoured with certificate of recognition.
The organisers multi devices communications promised it will be more exciting as supports will be drawn from all sectors.
In his keynote address, Project director, Nigeria Hair Show, Mr Chukwumah Emmanuel, while praising the effort of the sponsors and used the medium to solicit for supportÂ from the government andÂ other corporate bodies saying the event will help to boost African beauty in general.
Present at the event was the first Lady of Lagos State, represented by Mrs Motolani Doherty. Other special guest includes, the Chairperson, Etiosa Local Government, the Chairman, Ikeja Local Government, the President, National Hairdresser Association, Deaconess C. TOM, Chief Mrs Elegushi, Mrs Shola Ogungbe ofÂ Sholly Beauty World. Mr NuruÂ and Nari represented Ayman enterprises.
