WARRI— THE people of Ojobo community in Burutu local government area of Delta State have commended the chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Wellington Okrika, for taking over treatment of sick persons in the community’s cottage hospital following alleged abandonment of the hospital by health personnel of Tare Ventures.

The community, in a statement by two former chairmen, Mr. Asiro Nisiama and Eterema Warekremo and a youth leader, Mr. Adebayo Alabra, said they were thrown into confusion when health personnel of Tare Venture undertaking treatment of sick people in the hospital abandoned them and fled the town alleging non-payment by DESOPADEC.

They said but for the immediate intervention by Chief Okrika, who deployed health officers to them, the community would have lost most of their people, as many of them would have died of malaria-related ailment and other afflictions.

The community expressed confidence in Chief Okrika, saying Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan was right in appointing him to the position.
