NFC probes Jos fire outbreak

Jos – Management of Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has initiated investigations into last Monday’s fire which gutted a section of a building at its headquarters.

A committee has been constituted to investigate the incident and make appropriate recommendations.

The corporation in a statement signed by its spokesman, Brian Etuk said the state security services and the police have also been contacted over the matter.

According to the statement, “Management has instituted a high powered investigative committee to determine the immediate and remote causes of the fire and make recommendations for appropriate action.

“Already, men of the state security service, (SSS) have visited the fire scene with a view to determining the cause(s) of the fire for
necessary action”.

It added that the corporation’s Managing Director, Afolabi Adesanya has also visited the state police command to solicit assistance in protecting its facilities.

It reaffirmed that there is no plan to relocate the corporation’s headquarters from Jos adding,“Management wishes to state that headquarters of the Nigerian Film Corporation remains in Jos.”

“Management is committed to pursuing the mandate of the Corporation which includes the provision of broad policies and programmes which are being carried out through the continuous strengthening of its administrative, physical and infrastructural facilities, to reposition the Nigerian Film Corporation for accentuated performance and a dynamic, proactive
leadership of the Nigerian creative industries which includes the motion picture sector”. the statement said.
