WARRI—INFERTILITY problems in both male and females in Warri and its environs have been attributed to multiple sex escapades.
The Medical Director of the Central Hospital, Warri, Dr. Paul Osunbor, made this revelation yesterday in a lecture titled “Sexual Promiscuity amongst Youths†delivered at a one-day seminar organized by the office of the wife of Delta State governor, Mrs. Sheila Roli Uduaghan, at the PTI Conference Centre, Effurun.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Uduaghan decried the degree of moral decadence among the youths in the state and admonished them to flee from social vices, such as sexual immoralities, cultism, among others, and imbibe Godly living.
She painted a rosy picture of their future but added that they would only enjoy such, if they did away with immoralities.
In her welcome address, Vice-President of I Care project, Mrs Nelly Utuama, also harped on the need for children to respect and honour their parents and guardians.
According to her, “youths should look at what they have done wrong and make a decision to change’’.
Utuama noted that ‘’no good child would suffer, but if you take to evil ways of life, destruction would come your way’’.
Dr. Osunbor listed poverty, youthful exuberance, peer pressure, poor parental guidance , among others as being responsible for the high level of waywardness among the youths.
Specifically, he blamed parents and guardians for poor parental supervision of their children and wards and urged them to endeavour to monitor their activities.
He also attributed 40 per cent of infertility in both the males and females in Warri and its environs to sexual escapades.
