Lar urges PDP members to cooperate with caretaker c’ttee

By Taye Obateru

Jos -  Elder statesman and prominent politician in Plateau State  Chief Solomon Lar has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to cooperate fully with the caretaker committee set up by the National Working Committee of the party for the success of its assignment.

He said the committee headed by Chief Abu King-Shiluwa deserves the support of all to succeed in its “rescue mission” to restore the confidence of members in the party and the state as a politically stable state.

A statement by the Director of the Solomon Lar Centre Mr. Adeyi Ezekiel Major quoted Lar as saying the dissolution of the executives of the two factions of the PDP in the state by the NWC was the best for the party and the state which should be supported by every loyal party member.

“Every lover of democracy and Plateau State should throw his weight behind the dissolution and give full support to the caretaker committee. Chief Lar commends the consultative approach of the caretaker committee, which has embarked on one-on-one visit of stakeholders in the state for detail consultation” the statement said.

He commended the national leadership of the party led by Prince Vincent Ogbulafor for constituting a caretaker committee to reconcile members of the party and conduct fresh congress elections from the ward level to the state level.

He was optimistic that a strong, united and democratic wing of the PDP would emerge from the exercise and urged PDP members to stop identifying with their former factions and see themselves as members of the same one big family.

It would be recalled that the national secretariat of the PDP appointed Lar to reconcile the two factions of the party in the state but went ahead to dissolve the executive of the factions after little progress was made in the reconciliation effort.
