Kalu’s sack a joke – Imo PPA boss

…. As party forecloses re-admission of Akerele

Owerri – Chief Leo   Okereke, Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Imo, has described as “a joke of the year”, the purported sack of the party’s Board of Truestees (BOT) Chairman, Chief Orji Kalu by some members.

Okereke told newsmen in Owerri that the purported sack of Kalu was laughable because those who took the action had no power to do so.
He said that it was a ploy by those who were themselves sacked from the party to cause confusion and destabilise the party.

“They are on their own. As soon as some of them were sacked from the party, they went and constituted themselves and said that they have sacked the BOT chairman,”  he said. According to him, their action cannot stand.

He urged PPA members in the state to ignore such moves that seeks to cause disaffection among them.

On the defection of about 5,000 members to the ruling PDP within a week, Okereke said, “nobody defected from the party.”

“Nobody defected from PPA and we have not seen them, whoever told you that was being economical with the truth on the number and he would have said about 100,000 members defected, but that is not even so,” he said.

It will be recalled that the crisis bedevilling the PPA depended as co-founders of the party asked the BOT Chairman to stop running the party as a sole proprietorship.

Alhaji Adamu Song, former PPA Deputy National Chairman (North) had last month in Abuja told newsmen after a stakeholders meeting that crisis in the party in the past two years, was self-inflicted.

…. As party forecloses re-admission of Akerele

In a related development, Chieftains of the   People Progressive Alliance (PPA), yesterday ruled out the possibility of re-admitting erstwhile Deputy National Chairman, South, Chief Olu Akerele.

PPA spokesman, Chief Ben Onyechere, expressed surprise that Akerele, who resigned from the party could dream of associating himself with a job he threw away.

“Chief Akerele committed political suicide by leaving the PPA in the first place. And you know, the dead stay dumb. Why he wants to return to the party, I would not understand. May be, we are seeing a political ghost for the first time in Nigeria ”, Onyechere said.

Vice Chairman South West, Chief John Adelabu, who is favoured to step into Akerele’s shoes held a meeting with top PPA stakeholders in Ibadan.

“The PPA is still intact, there is no problem. We had a meeting yesterday in Oyo State . The party is intact and we are looking ahead”, he said.
Onyechere rebuked Akerele for stabbing the party leader, Dr. Orji Kalu at the back.

“Chief Akerele said Dr. kalu wanted to turn PPA to an Igbo party. That is most unfair  to a man who made him Special Adviser when he was Governor of Abia state.

The Slok Conglomerate, Kalu’s business Empire, is peopled with many managing and executive Directors from Osun state and other parts of the country”, the PPA spokesperson  pointed out.

“Kalu”, he said “never took any decision without hearing from the former PPA chairman, Mr. clement Ebri. They never disagreed on personal grounds.

The day Akerele resigned, he was in Kalu’s Abuja home. We know why he is singing a new tune with Alhaji Adamu Song”.
