Abuja — The national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been commended for forging unity among party members in advancing the agenda of the Federal Government.
A chieftain of the party from Imo State, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho (rtd), especially appreciated the national chairman of the party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor for cultivating what he described as the cordiality between the party and President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Ihenacho in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday noted with irony the differences made by the present national working committee under Ogbulafor’s stewardship with its predecessors.
He said: “I remember the rash of conflicts between the former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National Chairmen of the party from Solomon Lar, Barnabas Gemade, through Audu Ogbeh to Ahmadu Ali.
“The disagreements over party supremacy had negative implications for party discipline, unity, harmony and cohesion to the extent that many members of our great party left for other parties ahead of the 2007 general elections and that did not really augur well for us, as a party in some states.
