AWKA— A major leadership crisis is brewing in the Anambra State branch of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) as the South East zonal vice chairman of the party, Chief Austine Ndigwe, yesterday disowned the state leadership that was appointed recently.

Addressing a news conference in Awka, Ndigwe, said the party was not for the highest bidder, adding that anybody parading himself as the chairman of the party in Anambra state would be handed over to the Police because the party had not conducted any congress in the state.

In what appeared to a direct confrontation with the founder of the party, Chief Orji Kalu, Ndigwe directed the acting state chairman of the party, Chief Frank Igboka, to submit all the party’s documents in his possession within seven days, warning that failure to do so might put him in trouble.

He said that anybody who decamped from another party for the purpose of contesting for Governor on the platform of PPA, was wasting his time, adding that anybody with governorship ambition under the platform of PPA would have been a member of the party before now as prescribed by the party’s constitution.

“PPA is not for sale and anybody who joined recently is not qualified to vie for the governorship ticket of the party. There are people who have spent money and time in this party and they must be given preference. PPA is not a one man show and I will fight with the last drop of my blood to correct any anomaly in the party in Anambra state.

“I cannot be a party to any fraud. I cannot be a party to anything that is undemocratic and unconstitutional and as the zonal chairman of the party, anybody who parades himself as the chairman in this state risks being arrested by the police,” he said.

According to him, some people are trying to exploit the recent confusion that creeped into the party recently, warning that such a situation would not be tolerated as he was determined to ensure that PPA remained the most peaceful party in the zone.
