Benue civil servants decry dearth of ethics

MAKURDI – Directors in the Benue State Civil Service have decried the wanton politicisation of the state’s service and the near disregard for the ethics of service which have combined to create room for inefficiency in the system.

The top civil servants, who also lamented the apparent lack of team work in the running of the affairs at the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) also urged the government to adequately address the nagging issues of poor remuneration and absence of working tools which has in no small measure dampened the morale of the state’s workforce.

This was part of the resolution of the participants at a Five Day workshop on Budget Formulation and Implementation, Resource Management and Public Relations organized in Makurdi for Directors of the state civil service by Al-Timage Consults Ltd., under the auspices of the Benue State Government.

The participants who lauded the determination of the government to build the capacity of its workforce through the training however observed that the current level of training was inadequate “particularly in the Directorate Cadre to sharpen their skills and prepare them for retirement”.
