ASUU, FG face-off leading students into crime, says NADESSTU

By EmmaArubi
WARRI—THE Naional Secretary of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), Comrade Ejesi  Stanley, yesterday decried the protracted ASUU/Federal Government failed negotiation, saying the absence of part-time job was luring some students into anti-social acts, such as armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution and internet crimes.

Mr. Ejesi, who appealed to both parties to return to the negotiation table to resolve the knotty issues at stake for the benefit of the students and the nation at large, stated that persistent strike in the nation’s tertiary institutions was one of the reasons Nigerian university degree was no longer respected in the comity of nations.

Pleading with ASUU to call off the strike, he expressed regret that it was only children of the poor masses that were suffering, as those from wealthy home and top government officials were in schools abroad where these frequent lecturers’ strike was an aberration.
