ABUJA – AHEAD of the Anambra State governorship election slated for February 6, 2010, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, fixed the collection of nomination form for N5 million, expression of interest for N250,000, just as it stressed that the state would serves as a test case for the party.
According to the party, the sale of forms and expression of interest by aspirants starts immediately, the screening of aspirants would commence on September 14, while the partyâ€™s candidate to fly the flag of PDP for the election will emerge October 4, adding that all interested persons must come to the partyâ€™s National Secretariat, Abuja to purchase the form.
Addressing Journalists in Abuja yesterday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof Rufai Alkali, who noted that nomination form as well as that of expression of interest was free for women in line with the partyâ€™s constitution, said that the National Working Committee(NWC) has not adopted any candidate for the election as the party was prepared to have free and fair congresses from the ward to the state, where three ad-hoc candidates will be elected to participate in the Anambra state special congress to get the PDP candidate.
He said the party was focused, determinedÂ and prepared for the elections, just as he urged other parties in the state to put their houses in order rather than embark on what he described as cheap propaganda.
