Abia gets new CP

Umuahia – A new Police Commissioner has been appointed in Abia state. He is Mr. Jonathan Johnson, who until his new appointment was a Commissioner of Police incharge of Administration in Lagos state.

He replaces Mr. Edgar Nanakumo, who has been posted to Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Meanwhile five teenagers suspected to be members of a secret cult gang have been arrested by the Abia state police command in a joint operation conducted with the state vigilance services, popularly known as the Bakassi Boys.

The suspects, who were paraded were said to have been arrested at Amuzukwu area of Umuahia metropolis, during an initiation ceremony for new members of the cult fraternity, suspected to  the Buccaneers.

The teenage suspects, including two brothers, were rounded up at their initiation ceremony inside a bush at Amuzukwu village in Umuahia North Local Government Area following a tip-off, and they  attempted to escape when security team stormed their initiation ground.
