By Enyim Enyim

ONITSHA – The Progressive Peoples Alliance(PPA) yesterday, said it has not endorsed any aspirant for the 2010 governorship election in Anambra state.

Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Anthony Igboka, who was reacting to reports in some national dailies that the national leadership of the party had endorsed Chief Okey Chikwendu and Mr Emeka Etiaba, said PPA had not endorsed any of its aspirants as sole candidates for the 2010 governorship poll

He said such publications were capable of causing problem for the party and warned all the governorship aspirants of the party to guard their utterances in their own interest and that of the party.

“As the state chairman of the party, I want to say that the report is sending a wrong signal to our aspirants. And I want to state categorically clear that Anambra PPA has not conducted primaries for its governorship aspirants. We shall soon conduct it and when we do, it would be free and fair. The party will give all the aspirants a level playing ground”

He said the party executive was making arrangements towards the conduct of the primaries and would announce the date for the primaries as soon as it was concluded.

He advised the aspirants to go to the field and work hard for the primaries as there would be no sacred cow.

On voter registration, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide adequate materials and man power for the exercise and advised party members to go for verification of their names in the voters register in order not to be disenfranchised.
