Rangers scribe sacks Chukwu

*He has no powers to do so, says Chukwu

Christian Chukwu yesterday rejected a letter informing him that his contract with Enugu Rangers will not be renewed.

Club Secretary, Paul Uzor, signed the letter. Uzor himself was suspended by the board of Rangers on March 31st this year. He too rejected the suspension on the basis that the board did not employ him. He argued that they lacked the powers to take any action against him. Chukwu, former Nigeria’s captain and Super Eagles coach, also made the same argument, yesterday, saying that “Paul Uzor cannot take any such action against me, he lacks the powers.

He signed the letter saying that my contract will not be renewed. One other board member signed for the chairman who is not in Enugu at the moment. Rangers have a seven-man board and I totally reject this letter. I will make further clarifications as time goes on.”

Rangers were once joint leaders with Bayelsa when Uzor disengaged Sylvanus Okpala, Chukwu’s assistant and said it was to reposition the club. They ended up the league in 6th position.
Uzor maintains that he means well for the club. Alphonsus Dike is expected to take over from him. Dike was disengaged by the NFA for failing with the  national U-17 team.

In another development, Shooting Stars of Ibadan also said that they would not renew the contract of Franklin Howard, the man that led them to their promotion back to the Premier League.
“Howard’s contract ended on July 31 and we will not be renewing it. We are shopping for a new coach,” Mutiu Adepoju, club’s chief executive  said yesterday.
