Power supply: PHCN assures Owerri residents

Owerri – The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has pledged to intensify efforts to restore power supply in Owerri and its environs.

Some residents of Owerri and environs have been without electricity supply while others have had epileptic supply in the last six weeks, following a fire which gutted the Egbu sub-station of the company.

Mr. Ositadinma Ugwuafor, Public Affairs Manager of the Owerri Business Unit of PHCN, Wednesday enjoined the residents to exercise patience as efforts were being made to restore power supply to the area.

Ugwuafor told newsmen in Owerri that a team of engineers had assessed the damage and were intensifying efforts to rehabilitate the destroyed feeder transformer.

He said that some equipment had been received from the PHCN headquarters to facilitate repairs, while others are being expected.

“Presently, we have secured equipment from the headquarters to replace burnt cables. Our people have assessed the extent of damage and are fixing all burnt materials. In no distant time, there will be power supply again,” he said.
