ABUJA – Nigerians have opposed immunity clause for public office holders in Section 308 of 1999 constitution. This was the result of an opinion poll conducted by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
It would be recalled that there had been lot of controversies on Section 308 of the Nigerian constitution, where a lot of Nigerians had called for part of the constitution to be deleted while some had said that particular part of the Constitution should be amended.
The result was presented at a press briefing yesterday, by the Minister Information and Communications, Dr Dora Akunyili, who was represented by the Director Information and Technology, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, saying that the main aim of the poll was to increase communication flow between Federal Government and the populace. This will ensure that Nigerians are able to participate in decisions, programmes, policies and legislation of the government.
