By Tony Edike

Enugu – A three-man gang of kidnappers yesterday, abducted Mrs. Grace Mamah, the 65 year old wife of Igwe James Mamah, the traditional ruler of Umozzi in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu state and Chairman, Ifesinachi Group of Companies.

She was kidnapped from the former Nigerian Army barracks in the academic town of Nsukka, where she was attending lectures organised by the National College of Education, at about noon yesterday.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said security operatives were immediately dispatched to comb the town for a possible crackdown on the hoodlums.

Sources said the kidnappers, who were armed with a Pump Action gun and a pistol, were said to have gone to the school on commercial motorcycles and called the woman on her GSM phone, informing her that she had an urgent message.

As she stepped out of the classroom to receive the message, it was learnt, the three young men demanded the key to her Honda Jeep, which she refused and started shouting, calling for help.

But before any help could come, she was dragged into the Jeep by the kidnappers, who fired several shots into the air as they headed towards Nsukka-Adani-Onitsha road.
