Kaduna – The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) has distanced itself from the reports credited to its President, Hajiya Haratu Aliyu, purportedly criticising the sacking of five chief executives of commercial banks by the Central Bank (CBN).
The chamber said it supported the decision of the CBN to sack the boards of the banks involved over accumulated loans amounting to trillions of naira, contrary to the position of the chamber’s president.
In a statement signed by Malam Usman Saulawa, the chamber’s Director-General, KADCCIMA said as a major stakeholder in the country, it was aware of the developments in the banking sector that led to CBN’s decision.
Saulawa said the chamber was aware of the statutory functions of CBN and that KADCCIMA welcomed its decision “to protect the interest of depositors, creditors, as well as to ensure that no one loses his money due to the failure of any bank.â€
