THE lingering crisis in the Anambra State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to assume different dimensions with the Chief Bright Nebedum-led executive which emerged from the controversial congress of the party held in 2008 describing as sad a situation whereby some people who were not genuine members of the party were bent on destroying PDP in the state.

The stand of the group came on the heels of a court action by a former state secretary of the party, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi praying the Federal High Court in Awka to declare that Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye who was laying claim to the leadership of the party and Mr. Uchenna Emodi who was recognized by the national leadership of PDP, were not fit to lay such claims because they both decamped from PDP in 2007 to other political parties from where they campaigned against PDP during the last general elections.

In a communique issued after their retreat at the weekend, the officers led by Nebedum regretted that relevant authorities of the party have not properly addressed the matter which was why it has continued to linger.
