Lokoja – Governor Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State, yesterday, reshuffled his cabinet and relieved two commissioners of their appointment.
Mr Richard Elesho, Chief Press Secretary to Idris, told newsmen in Lokoja that Alhaji Ahmed Ogunna, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, and Dr Fred Achema, Commissioner for Health, were removed in the minor cabinet reshuffle.
Elesho said that the state Accountant-General, Mr Obolo Okpanachi, was also removed by the governor. The latest cabinet reshuffle brings to seven the total number of members of the state executive council who lost their jobs in the past one month.
Earlier, the governor on July 8 removed five commissioners in a major cabinet reshuffle.
However, Elesho gave no reasons for the removal of Ogunna, Achema and Okpanachi. The Chief Press Secretary, nonetheless, said that the governor had nominated seven new persons to fill the vacancies.
The nominees are Prof. Haron Baba, Dr Salime Onumiya, Dr Adama Abubakar, Mr Edward Apata, Mr Sheu Abdulkadir, Mrs Hannah Shonikaye and Mr Bob Alfa.
Elesho said that the names of the nominees would be sent to the House of Assembly for confirmation.
