Ebonyi inaugurates Abakaliki road network

Abakalik – The Ebonyi Government has inaugurated a 16-km road network in Abakiliki, constructed at the cost of N900 million.

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr Paul Okorie, made this known yesterday,  in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki.

He said that the government would also construct additional 8 km of roads within the capital city at the cost N700 million.

“Most of the work on the 16-km road network were inherited from the previous administration under the first phase of the road project. The second phase, the 8 km road project, is expected to commence as soon as the rains stop. The project will be jointly financed by the government and the World Bank,” he said.

Okorie said that the government was currently constructing 23 bridges and 400 km of roads across the state to fast-track the development of rural communities.

The Commissioner noted that 90 per cent of the projects were sited in the rural areas to transform the people’s lives and boost food production.
