Ebonyi commences automation of land registration

Abakaliki – The Ebonyi State Government has commenced the automation of  land registration in the state in order to introduce new Certificate of Occupancy aimed at averting fraud by land speculators.

Mr Jonah Egba, Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Housing told newsmen in Abakaliki that the exercise would help check fraud among land speculators.

“The ministry has started the automation of land registration to enable government introduce new certificate of Occupancy and monitor land activities.

This would on completion be put  on the  internet to enable Nigerians  access and transact land business in Ebonyi state from any part of the world,” he said.

According to him, the exercise would boost the internal revenue generation of the state, check fraud in land speculation and facilitate the process in acquisition of C of O.

He, however, advised owners of undeveloped plots of lands in the state, especially at Nkaliki and Aguogboriga layouts to develop them within three months or have them revoked.

“Government will soon commence allocation of lands to private developers to facilitate the ‘Ochudo’ new Estate. The new secretariat at the Ochudo estate would be completed and commissioned on schedule as some corporate organisations have indicated interest to build their headquarter at the place,” he noted.
