“And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you are given as a gift for the Lord, to do the services of the tabernacle of the congregation”
(Number 18:6).

LORD, give me illumination so that I may always be awake!
No ministry can thrive without human gifts. If God does not give the “visioneers” of every ministry vision helpers as gifts, they will eventually be exhausted with overwork. One man cannot do the work of God will always raise people who believe in Him. Primarily, a gift has two major contributions.

Two majors of a  gift

A gift brings joy. He/she has the primary vision of relieving the man of God particularly in sensitive areas and during emergencies.
A gift enhances the life of the man of God. That is why he/she is a gift. In other words, a gift is supposed to supplement the vision of the House.
Let us now look at another side of the roles of a gift: there are many people who are supposed to be gifts in the church who are buried in the cocoon of their self-centered preoccupations as a result they end up grieving the spirit of the man of God they are supposed to relieve. It ought not to be so.

Dead or asleep?

Wherefore He saith, Awake you that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light ” (Eph. 5:14).
Now, if you do not study the above scripture deeply, you will think that God was talking to just one group of people. Actually, He was talking to two distinct groups and both of them need light.

Those who are dead:

The unbelievers belong to the dead group.

Those who are alseep:

The believer that is spiritual inactive is asleep .

One more thing, though. The dead man and the one who is asleep have something in common. They both appear lifeless. You need to observe the one asleep closely before you notice that he is stilling breathing because you can see the movement of his chest as the movement of his chest as he breathes in and out. In some cases also, you can hear him snoring. In other words, the man that is asleep is not lifeless but temporarily dead because he is as inactive as a dead man. If this is true, why will the Bible say they need light? The answer is obvious. The eyes of both the one asleep are closed. Even though they are in a room brightly illuminated they cannot see light. They are in absolute darkness.

The bane of the church today is that there are gifts who are asleep. There are numerous sleeping giants in the body of Christ. That is why the Bible is calling on thembe a wake! So that Christ shall give them light: it is very strange, yet very true! This accounts for why they bring sorrow to the man of God. Let me illustrate further for better clarification. If you fall asleep when there was no light and the suppliers of electricity, power holding company of Nigeria (PHCN) brings light, you will exclaim: “there is light oh!”
Similarly, a gift that is asleep is not aware that all kinds of activities were in progress and many concluded meritoriously while he/she slept. The gifts who were awake took control of ushering, prayers Greetings, Disciples, Choirs, Children section, Transcription and transport ministries e.t.c. There are also those who make things happen behind the scene. All gift that is asleep can do is to dream.

Be a dream achiever

Gift who are asleep walk in their dreams while those who awake are taking charge of things that need to be done in the house of God. To be frank, the church does not need dreamers because there are enough dreamers already in the pipline. Rather we need dreams already existing and actualize them. The man that is asleep spiritually cannot actualize such dreams for two obvious reasons.

· He may not even know there is an existing dream.
· If he knows it, he cannot interpret it and thus it does neither him nor anybody else any good. Hence such a person is a misfit who causes constant pain to the man God!.
