Abuja – THE National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor said yesterday that the Uchenna Emodi led Anambra State Executive Committee of the party remains the only recognised exco, adding that the South East Zonal stakeholders of the party was on their own.
Ogbulafor who urged the Anambra State Executive to continue in the discharge of its duties, said, “the Forum which held its meeting in Enugu does not have the power to override the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) to recognise the Uchenna Emodi led Executive Committee in Anambra state.
A statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof Rufai Alkali, in Abuja yesterday said, “consistent with our determination to entrench internal democracy and party discipline, we wish to make it clear that the Executive Committee led by Uchenna Emodi remains the only recognised exco and must continue to discharge its duties.
“The attention of the National Working Committee of the PDP has been drawn to reports in the media, purporting that the Anambra State Executive Committee of the party led by Mr. Uchenna Emodi has been dissolved by the South East Zonal stakeholders of the party.
“Indeed, the decisions of the NWC as a matter of procedure cannot be reviewed nor set aside by any of the zones.
Besides, the said Forum, though attended by respectable leaders of our party does not enjoy recognition by the constitution and therefore cannot legislate upon, or upturn decisions duly taken by the National Working Committee on behalf of NEC of the Partyâ€, he added.
