Anambra: Group accuses PDP of subverting peace

By Chris Ochayi

Abuja – The crisis of leadership rocking the Anambra State chapter of  the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), weekend, took a different dimension as a group accused the National Working Committee (NWC) of undermining the peace plans reached by the stakeholders at the Enugu meeting.

The PDP members operating under the aegis of Anambra State PDP Progressive Forum, which descended heavily on the NWC faction, criticized it for subverting peace moves already initiated by party leaders in the South East zone

The group in a statement by its Coordinator, Dr Peter Okolo, in Abuja, accused the NWC led by the Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Haliru, of attempt to mortgage, sell and destabilize the PDP in Anambra State in order to make way for another political party to win the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the state

Dr. Okolo was amazed that a resolution taken at stakeholders meeting attended by eminent persons, including former Vice President and Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Dr Alex Ekwueme, member BOT and elder statesman, Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as well as three PDP governors among others could be easily jettisoned by the NWC.

They insisted that the Enugu peace plan brokered by stakeholders was the only way to attain enduring peace in Anambra State ahead of next year’s governorship election.

National Chairman, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor who came as an observer, also attended the meeting convened by the three PDP governors in the zone.
