$800,000 spent on fertilizer, Nerica seeds – Daura

Abuja – The Project Coordinator, Multi National Rice Dissemination Project, NERICA, Dr. Lawan Sani Daura disclosed yesterday that over eight hundred thousand dollars ($800,000) has so far been spent on the purchase of fertilizers, Nerica Certified Seeds, tractors and Agro- Chemicals as part of measures to address food crisis in Nigeria and Africa continent.

Speaking with Journalists in Abuja yesterday, Daura who noted that infrastructural development has begun in NERICA participating states of Ekiti, Ondo, Kaduna, Taraba, Nasarawa and Ogun, stressed that Ekiti, Ondo and Kaduna have been provided with tractors each based on their performance on the filed activities and adoption of NERICA project, adding that the other three states of Nasarawa, Taraba and Ogun will benefit soon.

According to him, the project was signed on 12th December 2003 and became effective on 26th April, 2004, just as he said that it is billed to end December 2010.
