ABUJA – Shot Put sensation, Vivian Chukwuemeka has blamed poor weather for her poor performance at the Mobil Athletics Championship held at the Abuja National Stadium.
Vivian, whose 17.31 metres mark was a far cry from the 17.58m she made in the previous week during the grand prix fetched her a gold medal at the Mobil Trial championship, had earlier vowed to use the trial competition to make up for her poor outing in last week’s meet.
“The whole place was slippery and one could not glide well, and it was also drizzling; a condition that worsened the situation.
“But there is still hope of improvement for me to make the B category of the athletics World Championship. From the group B, one can make good points to move to group A. That group A category is achievable, and I’ve set that assignment for myselfâ€, Vivian Chukwuemeka said. The US based thrower is however praying to be on the list of the Berlin World Championship- bound athletes.
