ABUJA – The Progresive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has said that plans by the Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo state to decamp to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not affect the electoral fortune of the party in the state.
A member, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party, Chief Sam Nkire, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, said the PPA has nothing to worry aboutwith the exit of the Governor.
He said the PPA is not going to miss Chief Ohakim because he did little to grow the party in Imo state, let alone the country in his over two years in office.
The pioneer National Secretary of the party, who recalled the role played by Chief Ohakim at the formation stage of PPA, noted that he rode in the same car with Ohakim to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Abuja, when the party registration was still being processed.
Chief Nkire said, “the party has nothing to worry aboutâ€, adding, that his worry is for Ohakim, who at this eleventh hour decided to swim against the tide, when the PPA is sweeping through the South east states of the countryâ€.
