Obi seeks support of elites to fight kidnapping

By Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA—GOVERNOR Peter Obi of Anambra State, has urged the elites in the state to join hands with his administration in the battle against armed robbery and kidnapping, instead of running away and leaving government to fight it alone.

Addressing members of Diamond Fitness Club, Lagos, who were in the state to see projects executed by the state government, Obi said no matter what anybody might think about the state, home is home, because that is where one would really have a say.

“Nobody should run away from his state because of the reported cases of kidnapping. The people of Iraq have a problem in their country, but they have not ran away. We must therefore not run away from Anambra state and remain in other parts of the country.

What we require is a collective effort to solve the problems facing the state and this requires that we must come home and put heads together to find solution to these problems.

That is why I find it absurd when I hear that people are discussing the security situation in Anambra state outside the state, instead of coming down here to talk about it.

The Yoruba’s don’t do that. The Hausas don’t do that too. It is only here that people who pretend to be concerned about the security situation in the state,  gather people outside the state to talk on how to ensure security in their state,” he said.
