NSCDC arrests supervisor, 10 others for exam malpractices

Umuahia—Abia state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 11 suspects,  including a supervisor, for alleged examination malpractices in last Saturday’s polytechnics and colleges of education examination.

The examination took place in 22 centres across the state. The suspects, the Commandant said were arrested in Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia. Among those arrested is a proprietor of an examination coaching centre, who was nabbed for allegedly sitting for the examination for one of his students in Ohafia.

Parading the suspects, the state Commandant of the (NSCDC), Mr. Nathaniel Ubong, explained that their offence, which is as a major one,  attracts 21 years jail term.

According to him, more investigations would be carried out on the matter to ascertain if more people were involved.

According to Ubong, the suspects were arrested for offences ranging from impersonation, smuggling of prepared answers into examination halls, use of GSM handsets, amongst others. The  supervisor, he explained, was nabbed for aiding and abetting examination malpractices.
