From July 6, 2009, the maiden edition of the Lagos College fair will take centre stage in Lagos State educational landscape. The fair, a two day show, put in place by Regal Accent International, an Education and Corporate Training Consulting firm is organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Education.
Mrs. Agbai Naomi, Managing Director/CEO of the firm, who said the fair will go national soonest stated that the fair is essentially a showcase for a collection of Colleges draw from the six geo-educational zones of the State, will provide stakeholders annually with information about schools and their achievements, as well offer exposition opportunity for school owners to upgrade their schools to the internationally acceptable standard.
According to her, the fair will provide opportunity for exceptional access to over 300 top schools in Lagos both public and private secondary schools in Lagos State. â€œIt is also an opportunity to explore the various services schools offer, for example day/boarding, single sex/Co-educational, Junior/Senior secondaries, private/Public and unity schools.
She stated that fair is an easy way to draw up a shortlist of schools by meeting all the schools under one umbralla. Agbai noted that during the fair, participating schools will have exhibition booths that prospective visitors can visit to evaluate and exchange information.
Further, Agbai said the objective of the fair is to promote accelerated development of educational system to meet global standards, to promote comparative judgement of schools in a single occassion and provide a real snap shot of public and private schools.
Other objectives of the fair she stated is to provide networking opportunities for schools, teachers and students to learn from one another, enhance parents ability to make informed and confident decision about the secondary education of their choice for their children.
As well to Nigerians in diaspora locate schools for their children from the college fair database, help schools capitalise on ideas generated through inter-communication of schools to add more value to their services and create opportunity for schools, teachers and students win recognition, scholarship schemes and awards. The fair will take place at the University of Lagos, to end July 7, 2009.
