Lagos partners developer on 5,000 workers housing

In its quest to make  affordable housing available to its teeming workforce, the Lagos State government is set to collaborate with a private real estate developer to deliver 5,000 housing units for middle income workers in the state.

To this end, the estate developing unit of Suru Conglomerate has concluded plans to begin construction work on the housing project.

Group Managing Director of the conglomerate, Mr. Edward Akinlade, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the estate which would be executed in partnership with the Lagos State Government is aimed at facilitating the delivery affordable housing to middle level class of workers in the state.

Akinlade said the partnership with the state government was on a 50-50 basis, adding that “our target for the completion of the housing project is the middle of next year.”

Lagos State Commissioner of Environment, Mr. Mui’z Banire, said the state government was happy to partner with the firm, while commending the Suru Group for the giant step because, according to him, it was aimed at building stronger Nigeria.

“We give our maximum support to Suru group, we welcome as many Nigerians that are willing to come to the country and invest,” he said.
