Kidnappers abduct 84-yr-old man in Imo

By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI—An 84-years old Pa Humphrey Onuoha, was Tuesday evening kidnapped from his ancestral home by a gang of kidnappers in Imo State.

Pa Onuoha, who is the father of the Anglican Bishop of Okigwe South, Rev. David Onuoha, was at the time of his abduction, sick.

Vanguard investigation revealed that the armed hoodlums stormed the Umuike Lowa, Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area home of the hapless old man at about 6.30pm, in an ash coloured Peugeot 406 car.

A source, who pleaded anonymity from Umuike Lowa, revealed that when the car stopped at  the gate of the house and on sighting the approaching car, Pa Onuoha personally came out to find out who the visitor was.

According to the account, as soon as the armed bandits sighted the old man, they quickly picked him, put him in their car, fired some shots and drove away. Some villagers, who saw the hoodlums earlier, had  mistook the car for the Bishop’s car.

When contacted, Bishop Onuoha confirmed the incident, adding that his major concern was the poor health of his father at the time of his kidnap.

He appealed to the kidnappers to set the old man free, adding that subjecting the man to such an excruciating pain will not serve them any good.
