By Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA—THE Umuleri General Assembly in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra state, has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (AN SIEC) over ward delineation and creation of polling units in the local council, claiming that the community was marginalized in the exercise.

The community want additional four electoral wards, basing the demand on what it described as untold hardship the people encounter during elections.

According to the community, the distance between the existing electoral wards is far from each other, adding that it was for that reason that it requested for the four new wards.

In the petition by its President General, Chief Godwin Obidike, Secretary General, Chief Fide Ibe and Onowu Iyaselle XIII , HRM Mike Ekweonu, the community noted that the present electoral wards delineation with regards to Umueri lacked equity, considering the size and population of the electoral wards in Umueri.
