A Non Governmental Organisation, The Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups (COSEG), has appealed to Lagos residents especially those whose buildings will be affected by the expansion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, on the need to cooperate with the contractors in the interest of the development of the state.
Some groups recently rose against the planned construction of the road, claiming government’s insensitivity to the hardship the construction will bring to them.
According to the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, the project being embarked upon by Governor Babatunde Fashola-led administration will bring economic activities back to normal on that axis of the state and that all hands must be on the deck to ensure success of the dualisation and the reconstruction of the road.
The group said a tour to the affected areas revealed that many landlords that are concerned are cooperating, while a few others are hell bent on frustrating the state government through unnecessary litigations, confrontation and urged the recalcitrant ones to support the exercise.
The group, however, commended Lagos residents for heeding the call to pay their taxes and promised that no government would be allowed to take the people of the South-West for granted again.
