Sunshine football Club of Akure weekend got off to a shaky start in their WAFU interclub competition campaign, settling for an heartbreaking 3-3 draw with the visiting Liberty professionals of Ghana in a cracker watched by capacity crowd at the Akure township stadium.
Splendid in their blue and yellow colours, the home team showed flashes of brilliance in the opening fifteen minutes of the game, sustaining pressure on the Ghanian side through Ganiyu Anifowose who intermitentlty initiated invasion into the opponents vital area from    the right flank.
These initiatives paid off on 19 minutes when taiwo Hassan found a vantage position to riffle home the opener off a corner kick by Godfrey Oboagbona. To the dismay of the home crowd Sunshine Stars then went flat footed, showing lack of coordination and clumsiness.
The visiting team saw this weakness and quickly snatched the initiative, forcing the home team to indulge in panic back passes. The rapid forays of the Ghanaians yielded the first dividend on 36 minutes when sensational striker, Latif Salisu intercepted a pass, went round a stranded goal keeper Attah Afeso before gently burying the ball in to the net.
He was back to cause a stir again nine minutes later when he networked in to the goal area of Sunshine Stars with his equally dangerous team mate, kovakkou Kelvin who
wasted what would have been a brilliant lead. The first half ended 1-1.
