African designers take trade online

Following the success  of the African Fashion Collective at New York Fashion Week 2009, top African designers including Aimas, Fosuism, Jewel by Lisa, Toju Foyeh and Zebra Living, have come together to retail pieces from their various collections exclusively at

The Site (derived from the Yoruba word “aso” meaning cloth), will be the first to connect global customers to the fast-growing African fashion industry. Visitors to will be able to view and purchase items from their favourite African designers and receive purchased products anywhere in the world within 24 hours.

Aimed at women aged 18 – 35, stocks items for every occasion including casual and evening wear, bags, belts and jewellery. Products on the Site are ethically hand-crafted and produced in limited quantities and at affordable prices.

My Asho.Com was founded in 2008 by Dolapo Shobanjo, daughter of The Apprentice Africa CEO, Biodun Shobanjo. Its mission is to connect Africa to the rest of the world through fashion. Additionally, Africans are able to purchase goods from allowing, for the very first time, Africans from one country (or state) to easily purchase goods from designers based in a different country (or state).
